PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

I want to start this message, on behalf of all the members of AFE Chapter 140, by giving Gary Langley our gratitude and thanks for serving as President for these last two years. With his guidance we have an active website, a growing chapter membership, a healthy bank account and put on our first tradeshow in over 15 years. Gary lives in Winchester (over by Keene), which makes for a long commute and his dedication to support this chapter as President is deeply appreciated.

We had a great year for tours, with tours of Moore Technology, Velcro, Kalwall, TurboCam, Amoskeag Dam, National Gypsum, Family Day at the Fisher Cats, etc, etc... We must remember we are known as the professional organization that does tours. It is what separates AFE from other organizations, all competing for the same potential members.

We have a strong Board of Directors lined up for 2011, but we are looking for more help on the board. All chapter members have talents to contribute to make the chapter stronger. We will also be putting together committees for membership growth, setting up tours, coordinating our education nights, helping with the directory and putting together our 2nd annual vendor night. Remember the old adage, "Many hands make light work". Volunteer to help, it's everyone's chapter.

The offices and board members are aligned to bring more value added benefit to AFE Chapter 140 during 2011 to help the chapter grow membership and retain present members. We will be looking at the education nights and vendor trade show to bring more educational awareness to our facility members and at the same time expose our vendor members companies to the membership for networking opportunities. We will be putting increased emphasis on networking prior to a dinner after a tour to get everyone acquainted with each other. Your thoughts on how to improve your chapter are vital to our success. Speak up and give us your thoughts.

I and the board also encourage everyone to visit our chapter's website. You can get there by typing in any of the following: afe140.org, afe140.com, afechapter140.org or afechapter140.com. One of the many features is "Let us know what you think." A lot of effort went into creating this site and we are always looking for improvements. We want the website to be a valuable source of information that every member has a shortcut for on their desktop.

I look forward to an exciting year of growth for AFE Chapter 140.
